What substance abuse services does The Ranch provide?

The Ranch offers outpatient treatment (OP) as well as low-intensity residential services (3.1 halfway house) for persons that meet ASAM criteria. The Ranch is not an inpatient detox program.


Does The Ranch take all types of insurance?

The Ranch currently accepts Medicaid only.


How much does The Ranch cost?

Outpatient and 3.1 residential treatment are covered by Medicaid


Do you require a person to turn over their Independence Card?

No. The Ranch provides 3 meals a day in the cafeteria as part of its residential program.


What types of amenities are available at The Ranch?

The Ranch is in Frederick, MD and situated on 204 acres of tranquility. Residents have access to a library, computer lab, full size gym with; weight room, music room, game room, and full-size basketball court.


Is there a black-out period? What does it entail?

All residents must successfully complete a 14-day blackout period. During this time, clients are expected to fully immerse themselves in the treatment experience. With clinical approval exceptions may be made to check in with a PO, go to court, or to attend to urgent medical needs. You will be transported and accompanied by Ranch staff during this time. You may have a cell phone during blackout.


How soon can I work?

After successful completion of the 14-day blackout period, a client may submit an employment request to his counselor. Requests are reviewed weekly at clinical staffing. A client will be approved initially to work part-time if they are compliant with treatment rules and expectations and their proposed work schedule does not interfere with treatment.


Is there a curfew?

Clients must be in their dorm by 10:00 pm each night. Clients must be in their room with lights out at 11:00 pm Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday nights, clients must be in their room with lights out at 12:00 am, if not on restriction(s). Changes may be made at the discretion of the House Manager based on the client’s behavior.


How long can I stay at The Ranch?

Individuals progress through treatment at different rates so there is no fixed length of stay.


Does The Ranch offer mental health services?

The Ranch partners with several community behavioral health providers. Some of these providers send a satellite therapist to The Ranch to meet with our clients on a weekly basis.


Is The Ranch near a bus stop?

No. The Ranch is located a few miles from the Urbana Park & Ride. However, The Ranch provides in-county transportation several days a week for medical appointments, parole and probation check-ins, and court.
